Roads
The biggest issue with roads is Construction on I-77 which is completely out of the campgrounds control. Advice for 2021 make sure you Google Map your trip. We took the scenic route in via 67 and through Elkin. Also make sure you pay attention. If you come in from the direction of Carter Falls you cannot turn right into the RV sites. The campground is really set up for easy driving. The roads coming into the campground are not the widest regional roads but definitely sufficient enough for you to tow your unit in.
Bathhouse
There is a bathhouse attached to the store but we never used it. The pictures on Facebook show them to be quite nice.
Playground
There is a playground over by the tent sites and it is one of my absolute favorites to date. Why? It has activities for a just walking baby to adults (my husband and I played tether ball) while our son ran around the house, horseshoes, slides, etc.
There is a small playhouse that our son loved, a little slide for a very young toddler. And a nice set of swings, monkey bars and slides for older kids. For the size of the playground it is a real winner.

Pool
There is no pool at this location however during late spring and summer you could hike to Carter Falls and wade in the pools there.
Sites
Sites the critical questions everyone always has. Pay close attention to the map provided by Byrd's Branch as not all sites are Full Hook Up. For our stay we had Site 7 and Site 10. Neither site required side to side leveling of the unit as we were completely level upon pulling in. That is a huge win. We just unhooked and lowered the hitch for front to back. All the sites are gravel for RV. Sites 1-7 and 12 have the most shade and 8-11 are extra large pull through sites. We could of easily fit another camper behind ours. Sites 1-7 had very cool rock fire pits by the little stream and sites 8-12 had beautiful metal fire pits. Byrd's has some of the coolest and best fire pits I have seen. There is a cow field beside 7 & 12 but it was actually quite nice to watch them.
Extras
As far as extras this place has it made for those who love hiking and wineries. Byrd's Branch sits directly on the MST (Mountain to Sea Trail). You can walk to Carter Falls round trip around 1.5 miles. You can also walk to Grassy Creek Winery and Vineyard or Elkin. There are alot of options for not driving but getting places. You could definitely get lost in the woods here.
Additionally, the campground itself has disc golf and will provide you with a bag to play. They also have a dog trail and a play area. The campground is pretty amazing. We definitely want to come back and visit because I could get lost for days on the trails.
This little place is a diamond hidden just outside of Elkin.
