Kitchen Must Haves!!!

Especially when cooking for a toddler!

Lets be honest some of us love to cook some of us not so much. Me personally I love to cook. I also have a toddler who loves to eat. He is all boy in so many ways. After four trips I believe I finally have my kitchen in order. I will put my must haves as well as affiliate links. (We do receive a small amount if you purchase.)

Thanks for the read we will add more if we find it.

Kitchen Basics

Pots, Pans & Cooking Utensil

For us pots and pans are a must we honestly went cheap for the camper because for one who knows what will happen to it and two it gets used 6-12 times a year. I went with a Farberware Easy Clean Set. This one is great because it also gives you utensils that are much needed. (The cookie sheet may not fit your oven but it will be good for moving food in and out of the camper) P.S this is not our exact set because we got a stellar deal on a open box at Walmart but this is the closest set to ours.

Plates, Bowls, Cups and Utensils

We honestly bought our plates, bowls and utensils out of the cheap summer items of Walmart. Again for the price point with a kid we honestly don't care what happens to them. We will see as he gets older if we will get a nicer set but my in-laws have the same and they just need replacing after 5 years. I will take the price for that.

Plates, Bowls and Cups

Required in store purchase we got the $0.98 cent bowls and plates we bought 8 plates, 4 bowls and a salad bowl for $13.00. We also got some cheap cups that matched. You do need to go look for these in the store as they are not available online. I do have two yeti's, two tumblers from our camper dealer and two metal cups in the camper as well.

Utensils

Again price was key for us. We know we will use these 25-30 times a year. We went for affordable because if we lose one who cares. I honestly don't ever want to be upset about something we left behind.

Misc Kitchen Items

Collapsible Bowls

Okay so these are a resent add and I love them so much because they take up so little space and they are perfect. I will be honest they are one of my splurge items but I seriously would not trade them for anything.

Lightweight Space Saving Kitchen Musts

Okay so measuring cups and whisks are a must right. I did not want metal because lets be honest most metal is cheaply made and will show rust especially if you plan on taking it near the beach. My solutions are the following a silicone whisk

that I love because it can be squished and survive and is so easy to clean and a set of collapsible measuring cups that leave my (three) drawers still full of space. This set includes silicone heat resistant grips that I absolute wish mine had for that tight space camper oven :)

Kitchen Scissors and Knives

Again you don't have to have the same quality as in your home kitchen unless your planning on being in it all the time.

I was lucky and able to get a German Scissor and pairing knife set for free but if not I would of purchased this set.

If you like steak do not forget steak knives!

Shelf Liners

Okay these are truly an absolute must. Your camper is moving which means you need to control what does and does not move in the camper. The shelf liners by Duck are what we used and they work great. I even glued some on the bottom of my bathroom trashcan to help it from sliding. Trust me line everything you place anything on with these because otherwise you will be throwing your kitchen and pantry items around in the trailer.

Lighters

The super simple but much forgotten grill lighter. You will need this if you have an outdoor kitchen or if you do not have or your automatic light goes on your stove. Bonus helps with campfires.

Strainer

Okay this may not be mandatory to all. I made it the first three trips without it but needed it three times during the fourth. It depends on you. I married into an Italian family so we sometimes add pasta as a camping dish. I also like to cook with vegetables so for washing it is much need. I personally went with a cheap collapsible set because of space and weight. We like them.

Can Opener

Again I splurged because the interior of our camper is black, white and gray so I have put teal accent pieces throughout the trailer so I went with a teal can opener because why not.

Tongs

This item depends on you. We love bacon so we cook it a lot on our outdoor kitchen. My husband used a fork for most of the trips but lets just say "ow" was said quite a bit so we purchased these to make that task less painful.

Fun Items

I honestly like to make fun pancakes for my son. So I bought this so I can thin down pancake batter and make shapes when cooking pancakes.

We also have a waffle maker but we use it for so much more than waffles when camping. I will be honest it is slow but it does the job. Look for our upcoming camping recipes blog to see creative ideas.
