Roads

The roads coming into RiverWalk are okay. It was a little nerve racking the first time due to the sign that says outgoing traffic has right away. I completely understand that after slowly descending down towards the river. The only thing that was concerning is the fact that you always have to depend on the kindness of others. While most of the time this is a given in the camping world it needs to be noted. We did encounter two people while we were on our way out. Thankfully they pulled over but it was tight. Especially since we wanted to have a little speed going up that hill to ensure that we didn’t spin tires.

Bathhouse

I used the one bathhouse on our way out on Monday morning. I was pleasently suprised on how cute and quaint the bathhouse was. It was quite nice to see the country decor and the bathhouse truly felt like a part of the campground. I did not use the showers just the restroom as since our unit is fully contained I only used the bathroom on our way out of the campground.

Playground

RiverWalk RV does not have a playground in the park. The only playground is about a .4 mile walk down the greenway trail to one of Jonesville’s Public Parks. I will say that I hope Jonesville improves this playground. While it is nice the main playground part is in the middle of a field with no shade and with the sun and lack of seating for parents it is quite a hot playground during a warm day. Our son was saying ow quite a bit as he played. It is quite a cool playground but it definitely has room for improvement.

Fishing

We did not find a place I felt comfortable fishing. You could see a few trails off of the greenway going close to the bank of the Yadkin River that others had used. For us this was just not the atmosphere for fishing that we wanted. The potential there is great though and I think the park has some opportunities as they grow moving forward.

Pond

The pond on the property was the swimming pool/beach. While I will say I was a little skeptical at first about this I think it is an extremely unique and cool feature for this Park. There is very little shade one tree so if you have young kids have sunscreen ready. Additionally, there are only a few chairs provided which was fine by us but you need to plan accordingly. It is also cool that they allow dogs to swim in the back portion. So keep your furry friends in mind for a evening cool off. The only thing I hope they keep an eye on is the brain eating amoeba. As someone who has seen it affect a super fun activity in their area I hope that the owners can test and prevent that in the future.

Pool

At RiverWalk RV the Pool is the pond. See picture above.

Sites

Sites this is always important. We were on 35 & 36. Site 35 had plenty of shade but we will admit our awning was almost touching the closest tree. We could of moved over more on the site but chose not to. Site 36 did not have near as much shade but the trees are trying so it will be there in years to come.

We really did like the view of the pond but with all the activities going on over by the recreation area we had so many people walking directly through our site. It got quite annoying as the weekend went on to find people walking less than a foot off the back of our unit in the site. We understand that the area in front of 35 was common area but the gravel part for the pull through was part of our site, but due to quickness most people did not grant us that courtesy. When we return we will personally probably try to go for 46-51 as those sites had less traffic from others which is a huge win for us. We love people when we want to be around them but at times we just want to be secluded. That is our choice as campers. What we did love is how level the sites were that made the set up process much faster.

The sites here have the possiblity to be tight if you have a large unit. I would recommend if you have a unit that you are worried about size to contact the owners. This is where RiverWalk shines the owners are amazing and want people to have a great experience.

From personally looking at the campground 17-24 & 26-34 seem great for large units. 1-7 are probably better for 35 ft or less travel trailers from my quick glance.

Extras

The best part about RiverWalk RV is the extra mile the owners take. When we were there for Labor Day Weekend they held Cornhole Tournaments, food trucks and Adult Beverage Trucks. This was a nice touch and we can defiantly tell the owners care about bringing fun to the Park. The extras seem to change every weekend which speaks to the level of commitment they have to the campers. I know I rated this right in the middle of the road. That is because depending on what your interests are depends on if the extras fit what you like. I think over time this will quickly change to a 4 or 5/5 for this Park. My favorite as a runner was the greenway but the greenway changes to more of a trail fairly quickly so I hope Jonesville gets into creating a better marked path quickly now that they have this amazing RV Park bringing people to their Greenway.

Overall we will be back. We tried to book for the wine festival in May but by the time we got back to our computer the campground was booked. We went a little further up the road to another campground for this event but we do plan on coming back.

I will say that when I see this RV Park the word “potential“ screams at me. If they could get a spot for tube put in right at the park and further down the fun that could be had here is amazing. There are so many opportunities for the owners to work with Jonesville and Elkin to turn this park into a truly jaw dropping location.
