Toddler in a Bunk Bed

Our biggest concern before our first trip was how in the world do we keep our toddler contained in the bottom bunk?

We decided to try a baby gate. But we measured carefully to make sure it was the full height of the bunk. We opted for one that had a crank to help get it as tight as possible. We also had to add some material to help get the best fit.

We use the Toddleroo Gate and have a great fit since our opening is approximately 25 inches tall and less than 42 inches wide.

We had to add the L Shaped furniture cover to the right side of our gate to get the seal perfect and prevent slipping.

By setting the crank side up on the outside we ensure we can get it right enough and that our mischievous son cannot access it.

Finally I am sure your wondering how has this been tested! Well for us it has been tested by a 3 ft tall 37 lb toddler who is all muscle and can get quite mad if we don't get him out. As long as we ensure it is tight we have only had it slip once. When it was not right it did fall but right after we installed it.

As far as airflow the design keeps air moving and we point our vents directly at the bunk and run a fan towards it with no issues. We use two different fans depending on our trip and if our dogs are with us.

We also use the Motorola Baby Monitor above that we bring from home but works great in the camper, especially with the star mount.
